Welcome to the XXVIII FESSH & EFSHT Meeting. The event will take place in the "spaceship" venue Palacongressi of Rimini (Italy) from May 10th to 13th 2023. This is the third time that the FESSH Meeting has landed in Italy: Bologna and Milan have been done 1997 and 2015.

I strongly invite you to actively participate in the scientific program that has been themed "From Basic to Controversy" by the Scientific Committee of the FESSH Congress. This Joint Congress will see surgeons and therapists to join their efforts and experiences from all over the world and discuss some hot topics such as fractures and malunions of the distal radius, longitudinal instability of the forearm, flexor and extensor tendons pathologies, microsurgery, congenital and pediatric hand pathologies, failures, incorrect management of hand injuries and, finally, a very stimulating discussion and comparison of experience between expert on wrist surgery and radiologists. Three editors (Heras-Palou C, Corella F, Luchetti R) developed a legendary Instructional Book entitled "Carpal Ligament Injuries and Instability" (Thieme publisher). Fourteen expert authors have been invited to cover all the arguments on the evaluation and both open and arthroscopic management of all the instabilities of the wrist.

Those are only a minimal selection of topics we will aim to treat in this FESSH Meeting. I also aim to allow as many hand surgeons as possible to present their scientific experience through the several free paper sessions planned. Hand surgeon experts are also invited to treat various controversial topics through special planned sessions or invited lectures.

Please send us your abstracts to the FESSH secretary allowing to elevate the level of excellence of this European Meeting. Special and local social events are being planned in connection with the experienced team of professional local organizers. Furthermore, the particular location has the advantage to discover the historical background of Roman Empire allowing the participants to move between the new solutions and cultural insights with history.
